SIP STEEL STRAWS: #NoExcuseForSingleUse

Have you ever thought about where the plastic straw that you used and thrown somewhere might have ended up?
In our society where we are always in a hurry finish the day, we always want things instant and convenient. Rushing to get takeout food to save time? Put it in a plastic bag. Doing groceries? Carry them on a plastic bag. PLASTIC, the instant and convenient best friend for the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We become oblivious of what “instant” and “convenient” may cause to our environment. They may end up somewhere and maybe STUCK ON A POOR ENDANGERED SPECIE OF A TURTLE’S NOSE. How would you feel if this plastic straw was yours?

According to Sip, the Philippines is the 3rd largest contributor of ocean plastic waste in the world. YES, 3rd IN THE WORLD. Enough to fill two lengths of EDSA (a popular 22.4 km-long road in the Philippines) gridlocked with garbage trucks from end to end. Talk about cleanliness, my dear countrymen.

I can’t really say I’m a hardcore environmentalist but I always tried to help the environment the best way I could. Sip is giving us all the opportunity to do so, where we can work to reduce our waste footprint with the use of steel straws.

Sip is an environmental entrepreneurship founded in the Philippines with the aim to create innovative solid waste management solutions such as the reduction of the amount of single-use plastic.
I am one of those people who love tea. ICED COLD TEA. Luckily a floor down from our office beside the Mega Skating Rink is Serenitea-a popular tea shop and milk tea place in the Philippines. We often order milk tea from them which of course come with a SINGLE-USE PLASTIC STRAW.

BUT FEAR NOT. Serenitea sells steel straws from Sip, the Duo Steel Straw Set for P250.

This Duo Steel Straw Set includes:
  • Classic Straw (21.6cm length, 6mm diameter)
  • Milk Tea Straw (21.6cm length, 12mm diameter)
  • Milk Tea Brush
  • A Cloth Pouch

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
  1.  Clean before first use.
  2. Wash with dishwashing liquid and allow to dry before storage.
  3. Keep away from damp environments.
  4. Oil utensils at least once every 6 months to ensure longevity.

You can purchase your own set at Lazada (unbranded steel straw) by clicking on this link: http://bit.ly/SteelStrawLazada

Or through their website: www.Sip.ph

We can do our part in saving our environment. What better way to start but through purchasing your own steel straw? Let’s save Mother Nature, one steel straw at a time.

Aside from refraining from single-use plastic, what else do you think we can do to help save our environment?

  3. I try to recycle as much as I can and not use plastic straws when I go out. I got metal straws a couple of months ago and really like them.

  4. I love my steel straws. I found some at Walmart for $1 and they came with the brush. I keep one in my car. I like to drink lemonade and Bragg's apple cider vinegar drinks but I don't want it washing over my teeth.
