Tokyo Treat June 2026: Tokyo Throwback

Tokyo Treat's Box this month is filled with nostalgia with their Tokyo Throwback box. They are taking us back to retro Tokyo that reminds us of sweet memories, cool sounds and our childhood anime! It reminds me of film cameras, cassette tapes and neon lights.

Let's open the box and see what Tokyo Treat has to offer this month!

Life Lately Vol. 6 Where Have I Been?

"Life is like riding a bicycle.
To keep your balance, you must keep moving."
Albert Einstein

It's been 4 years since I last posted anything in this blog, I even almost lost it, yet somehow I keep holding on to this website. It has a special place in my heart, a lot of memories and emotions have been poured into this website and I'm not ready to give it up just yet. I know I've said it before too (I know I've said it A LOT) but I'm really gonna try to post more this time. I PROMISE.

In the meantime, let me bring you up to speed about what's been going on with my life.

Proof of Life

"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain"
-Dolly Parton-

It's been almost a year since I last posted here, and we are on the second month of 2022. It still feels weird to me writing 2022, it feels as if we're in 2020 struggling to make sense of COVID19.

And honestly, I think we still are.

My Japan Bucket List

I was looking through my blog notes in the hopes of feeling motivated to write again when I saw this list I made almost two years ago. I have crossed out some of the things in my list but I still have a lot to do. 2020 and this year haven't been very giving, but since Japan has approved and is slowly rolling out vaccines maybe there is hope soon. So here is a list of the things I want to do while living in Japan:

The Sacred Self-Care Oracle Deck || Reading: Week 2

Okay, so I didn't do as I promised that I will be doing a reading every week. I have to apologize but it's just that I couldn't think or a question or topic for my reading. I guess I've also been busy with so much other things I need to accomplish (which I will update you guys about on my other blog posts eventually). But since I love you guys and I have promised as well, I have finally decided on my topic for this week which is:

How can I manage the stress I feel now?

Revlon Kiss Sugar Scrub (Sugar Mint) Review

During the winter season, my lips tend to be chapped. They get so dry and uncomfortable to the point that they hurt and bleed. The constant wearing of masks kind of help prevent it but it doesn't really stop it entirely. It's a big problem for me at times when I neglect them and I forget to put on a moisturizing balm on my lips which happens almost always because I am a busy busy gal.

Because of that, I needed a lip scrub and found Revlon"s Kiss Sugar Scrub and here's my review:

The Sacred Self-Care Oracle Deck || Reading: Week 1

My friend Alex got me interested in Tarot Cards. He did a reading for me once and I found it very interesting. It also was good guidance for the questions and thoughts I had at the time. One time when I was walking around a nearby bookstore, I found out they were selling different types of tarot cards. I've always thought the illustrations on the different decks were aesthetic and I wanted to see what other types there are. I happened to find The Sacred Self-Care Oracle Deck while I was browsing through Amazon JP. I thought it was beautiful so I decided to purchase it.

It's always hard to take care of oneself. We always think about what other people might think or feel, disregarding yourself. I, too, am guilty of this. I care so much about the world that I forget that it should be me first. Self-care should always be the first priority.

I would use this deck to guide me whenever I have self doubts, personal issues or just to decide what to do on a relaxing weekend. I do believe that the best thing is to meditate and pray always but it's fun to try to use this deck too. This deck will just be a visual guidance on what I would do about the things I would read about.

Goodbye, Blackheads?: Innisfree Blackout Balm Review

SEPTEMBER 4, 2020

I started using Innisfree Blackout Balm today in hopes of cleansing my pores. Having huge pores has always been a dilemma of mine and it can collect dirt that results to blackheads. I guess it's in my genes so it's annoyingly inevitable. Some seasons it isn't as bad for me and my pores are not as visible, but during the summer season oh man are they having the time of their life. Since it's hot, the pores tend to be more open and of course open pores mean they get to collect dust and dirt like a maniac.

So here's my review of this product:

A Solution for Pesky Dandruff Problems: Marks and Web Scalp Cleansing Gel and Scalp Balancing Gel Review

Before coming to Japan, I had my scalp checked by a dermatologist. I've always had dry scalp and a major problem with dandruff. I hate it. There were a lot of times when I wanted to wear black but I never did cause I'm scared of having dandruff fall on my shoulders making them too visible. It was embarrassing, but most of all uncomfortable. You always have that itchy feeling and when you try to scratch it, you just end up hurting yourself, like what you always do when you try to get back with your ex and end up hurting yourself all over again lol. Anyway, trying not to be side-tracked, I finally found a really good product to help me with my dandruff problem!

Life Lately Vol. 5 Birthday Month

I've just celebrated my birthday last month and of course, Facebook as usual showed me memories of my posts from years back. I noticed that I made wish lists every year. I used to write lists of things that were easy to acquire if I had the money--which I didn't have btw. Ah, simpler times. When you know it's easier to get the things that would make you happy. But why is it, that now that you have all the money to buy those things that used to be difficult for you to get, you crave for the things money can't buy.

Staying Sane With Animal Crossing

3 months left for 2020 and I'm going crazy.

2020 is proving to be the craziest year yet. And I bet that everyone is just done with this year now too (although I don't think that 2021 is gonna be any better). Most of the people I know in the Philippines are just having a bad time and they are forced to stay at home. I guess it isn't as bad here in Japan, but we're not having a good time either. We are just getting used to how life is now--The New Normal--as they call it.

Look at me blabbing about how I hate this year while I'm not even being productive either. My last post was last February which was also about how bad my life has been, not very inspiring I know. Give me a slack, I'm trying. All I've been doing lately is play video games and binge watch on Netflix.

This is probably the first time that you heard read that I play video games. Well it's because I didn't, not until Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released. I didn't have a Nintendo Switch when the game came out and I swear I wanted it so much I even had dreams about it. So one day, I decided to get one.

Life Lately Vol. 4 A New Year Post

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and be courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” –Joshua 1:9
It’s been more than 3 months since I last posted here and I know, I suck, just as much as the start of my 2020 was. I honestly still can’t process that we are just on the second month of this year and so much has happened and most of us are probably on high alert right now because of the Novel Coronavirus. But that’s a post for another day. For now, let me just greet everyone a late happy new year!

Super Typhoon Hagibis: Emergency and Evacuation Procedures (My Personal Experience)

The sky was full of stars when I got home from the shelter. Super typhoon Hagibis has passed and thank, God we're all okay.

News about the super typhoon got out early last week and it was expected to be the strongest typhoon of the century. I didn't care about it that much same as what I usually do when there's one from where I'm from. I'm from a country that is frequently visited by typhoons so it didn't bother me that much. But as we approached the weekend I got paranoid about it. The typhoon was expected to reach Japan last Saturday, and Japan was prepared.

Ready for Halloween?

It seems like Japan is excited for Halloween as much as I am because I've been seeing Halloween Displays since the end of August. Who wouldn't be? I'm sure you are always reminded of candies and costumes when you hear the word Halloween. As for me, I'm mostly excited about the costumes. I cosplayed (costume playing) a lot back when I was in the Philippines. I just love dressing up and Halloween is a fun (and normal) time to be wearing a costume.

I've been really busy since moving here and I don't really have the time to make costumes or go out to buy them so I'm thankful to have found a website where I could order socks to go with my costume! Saves me less time to find one where I am.

Chrissy's Knee High Socks is having a Sale right now for the Halloween so why not head over and check them out now!

I've got a few very easy costume ideas for you guys as well. Check some of them in this list:

SILA 2.0 Saxophone Idols Live in Action

READ 'TIL THE END FOR A TREAT!

Last year I watched SILA Saxophone Idols Live in Action at the Music Museum and was blown away (did you see the pun there?) by their amazing talent with the saxophone. I have always been a fan of saxophone music but they took me to a different level of fangirling. LOL.

This year, they are yet again getting ready to amaze us as they are having SILA 2.0 Saxophone Idols Live in Action on October 12th at the Newport Performing Arts Theater!

I am honestly sad that I will not be there to witness it since as you know I am a potato in Japan now, but have I got a treat for you guys in the Philippines!

Twenty Five and Learning (A Birthday Thought Post)

"Another year to add to my age. 23 years, still wandering aimlessly in this place called life. Should I be here? Where should I go? What should I do? Questions I always ask myself until now. Juggling between so many things I want to do but still can't find where I should really be, what I'm actually good at. or if there ever is something I'm good at."

This was a post I wrote for my birthday 2 years ago. Why does it feel like time flies by so fast? I am now 25, not feeling lost anymore and I don't feel sorry for being myself and what I have become after 2 years. It has been a long bumpy ride to get where I am today. I have worked hard to get here and all the struggles were worth it.

I still can't believe that I am on my silver year now. I feel so old and so adult (LOL) specially now that I live alone in a foreign country. I feel like I'm an entirely different person now, even my friends say so. A lot of them get surprised to see how strong I've become, how straightforward I talk and how at times I become so apathetic with things I used to be so emotional about. Well, life hit me hard on the chest and made me what I am now. It feels so good to be able to breathe after all that though.

I listed a few things that I've learned in my journey to becoming an adult; which I think applies for everyone. Read through and it just might help you out:

Althea Korea's New A'Bloom Collection Review

Althea Korea has officially launched their new A'Bloom Collection last month on all Althea sites. I was so excited about their new products because this is exactly what I need in this cold Japan weather. Everyone needs to take care of their skin you know?

Life Lately Vol. 3 New Life in Japan

Surprise! I now live in Japan. If you read My 2019 Goals blog post, you will know about the "opportunity" I mentioned about on the last part of the post. It is actually about me working in Japan, and now, I'm actually here.

It has now been a month and a day of me living here in Japan. Thankfully, I haven’t been that homesick since I got here (only for that one time I missed my mom’s cooking) which made it less harder being away. It has been a nice month and I am still super happy about getting to live here because it has always been my dream to be able to go to Japan and now I even have a resident card which is even more awesome.
